Album of the Month: Monsters of Folk

This month, we are proud to announce that our Album of the Month will be the self-titled release from Monsters of Folk!  We’ll be spotlighting the album all day next Tuesday, September 22nd, so be sure to listen in!  You may even win your very own copy!

Monsters of Folk

By now, you’ve probably heard some buzz on the supergroup Monsters of Folk, which is comprised of Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward, and Mike Mogis. What a team, huh?  They’re set to release their first album together next month and at WERS we can’t get enough of “Say Please,” the first single.  BUT, did you know that these guys have been performing together for quite a while now?  They all played a set together at Austin City Limits in 2004 as part of the Monsters of Folk tour (from which they drew their band name now a few years later).  Here’s a video of them playing a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Girl From North Country.”  Enjoy!
