December Album of the Month!
After listening to dozens and dozens of CDs this month, we’ve decided to name Norah Jones‘s new release, The Fall, our December Album of the Month! Listen in to WERS on Friday, December 11th as we’ll spend the day playing tracks from the album and you’ll also have the chance to win your very own copy! For a preview of the new music on the album, here’s a video of Norah performing her single “Chasing Pirates” live on Jools Holland. Enjoy!
November Album of the Month!
After listening to dozens of CDs so far this month, we’ve decided to give Devendra Banhart‘s newest release, What Will We Be, the honor of being our November Album of the Month! Devendra’s new music has just the right amount of funk and pizazz to perk you up this fall and to hear it, listen in to WERS all day Friday, November 20th, as we’ll be spotlighting tracks from the album. You’ll also have the chance to win your very own copy — you won’t want to miss this!
Album of the Month – The Avett Brothers
We have named I and Love and You from The Avett Brothers our October Album of the Month! Make sure you listen in to WERS on Friday, October 16th, as we’ll spend all day highlighting tracks from the album. We’ll also be giving copies of it away! August Album of the Month!
We’ve really been digging Phoenix‘s new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, so we’ve therefore decided to highlight it as our Album of the Month for August!
Be sure to listen in to WERS on Wednesday August 19th to hear tracks from the album and you’ll have the chance to take home your very own copy!
To start getting ready for our Album of the Month showcase, check out the official music video for Phoenix’s power track, “Lisztomania,” (which was a term coined by German writer Heinrich Heine to describe Franz Liszt’s virtuosic piano performances — apparently there were so many screaming women at his shows that the audience would be limited to standing room only. Perfect name for this forceful song, huh?) below.

It’s time for our WERS ALBUM OF THE MONTH!
Each month, the WERS Music Staff reviews hundreds of releases to bring you the WERS Album of the Month—our pick for the best album from an emerging artist. April’s Album of the Month is the self-titled sophomore release from Elvis Perkins in Dearland. The follow-up to his beautiful 2007 debut release, Ash Wednesday, Elvis Perkins In Dearland features unique instrumentation, a robust horn section, and dark lyrical imagery.
