Rocker’s Delight

Posted in Rockers by wersmusic on August 17, 2011

A very successful and well-known reggae artist, Sizzla speaks to many through his sympathetic music. One of his most top played songs “Just One of  Those Days” really touches us all in that we’ve all had hard times and have been through failing relationships.

Fear Nuttin Band live on 88.9 WERS!

Posted in Rockers by wersmusic on October 21, 2010

Fear Nuttin Band just brought a special acoustic performance of their eclectic fusion of rock and reggae to Rockers. Live Music Week listeners got to hear the crew run around the world with “Rebel,” plead for love with “She Said,” and discuss the perils of the cell phone age with “Pocket Dial.” The ultimate goal of their music, vocalist Prowla says, is to “unify the music and unify the people.”

Life is Good Update: Ziggy Marley

The reggae rhythms and feel-good dance vibes of Ziggy Marley draw a large crowd as the sun goes down on Life is Good. The oldest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, with dreadlocks running down his back and a big smile on his face, takes to the stage with “This Train” and jumps seamlessly into “Tomorrow People.” He also proclaims “A lifetime isn’t enough to live” in crowd favorite “A Lifetime.” He freestyles “love is a melody that plays to eternity” to segue into “Make Some Music.” Along with the Melody Makers, several of whom sport the colors of Jamaica, Marley keeps the crowd on their feet until closing with a cover of his father’s standard “Is This Love?” From the audience’s reaction, it’s safe to say yes, Ziggy, it is love.

Westbound Train stopped through Rockers

Posted in Rockers by wersmusic on April 24, 2009

Boston’s own Westbound Train visited Rockers to debut their fourth album “Come and Get It.”  They’re performing tonight and Saturday night at the Middle East Upstairs for their CD release party.  First track called “Check Your Time” is a love song with a ska vibe, you’ll have to personally ask the lead singer, Obi, what it’s about.  Second track “Come and Get It”, has an old school reggae vibe.  It also has some ska influence that shows their true roots.  The title track is very upbeat and has a great tempo.   The third and last track they performed, “Ain’t Gonna Be Easy,” is along the soul and R&B lines.  Check them all out at the Middle East tonight and Saturday night!  These tracks are just previews of the Warp Tour featuring Westbound Train.  The band will be traveling all over the country so catch them at a city near you
