In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we take a look at a band who is as influential as its name is absurd, The Flying Burrito Brothers. Gram Parsons and his motley crew of band members changed the worlds of Country and Rock and Roll alike when they decided to combining the two, making a sound that was forceful with an emotional touch.

The true impact of The Flying Burrito Brothers can still be seen today through artists ranging from Elvis Costello to Wilco. On a personal note, it’s rather difficult for yours truly to get through the groups 1969 debut The Gilded Palace of Sin without shedding a few tears of his own. Now it may sound ridiculous, but try to hold back the tears for yourself:
